How to Change the Paper Roll on Epson TMT-88 and Epson TMU-220 Docket Printers?

Follow the instructions below to easily change the paper roll on your docket printers.

Epson TM-T88

Paper Roll Change Instructions:

  1. Open the Printer Cover:

    • Press the button on the front of the printer to open the cover.
  2. Remove the Old Roll:

    • Take out the used paper roll, if there is one.
  3. Insert the New Roll:

    • Place the new roll into the printer with the paper feeding from the bottom (under, not over).
  4. Pull Out Some Paper:

    • Pull out a small amount of paper and close the cover.
  5. Tear Off Excess Paper:

    • Tear off any excess paper using the manual cutter on the printer.

Paper Size and Texture:

  • Size: The standard paper size for the Epson TM-T88 is 3 1/8 inches (80 mm) wide and 230 feet long
  • Texture: The paper is thermal, meaning it reacts to heat to produce text and images. It is smooth and typically BPA-free for safety.

Epson TM-U220

Paper Roll Change Instructions:

  1. Open the Printer Cover:

    • Use the tab or lever to open the roll paper cover.
  2. Remove the Old Roll:

    • Take out the used paper roll core, if there is one.
  3. Insert the New Roll:

    • Place the new roll into the printer with the paper feeding from the bottom (under, not over).
  4. Close the Cover:

    • Close the cover and ensure it is securely latched.
  5. Tear Off Excess Paper:

    • Tear off any excess paper using the manual cutter on the printer.

Paper Size and Texture:

  • Size: The Epson TM-U220 can use paper rolls of 58 mm, 70 mm, or 76 mm width.
  • Texture: The paper is impact-based, meaning it uses a ribbon to print. It is slightly thicker and more textured compared to thermal paper.
